What is the Newbury Olympic Award and who is it for?
The Award is being set up this year by Newbury Young People's Council in order to encourage Olympic Legacy in Newbury by recognising exceptional contribution to or achievement in sport.
The Award aims to identify and reward those who are devoting their time to sport either through competing or helping to inspire others. We hope to continue the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic Games through raising the profile of sport in Newbury and inspiring local people to enrich their community using sport.
The Newbury Olympic Award welcomes nominations for people of all ages and anyone can make a nomination. The nominee should either live in Newbury and the surrounding villages or participate in sport in Newbury. The nominee can be involved in sport in any way, from competing to being a club administrator.
