The public consultation on the draft Newbury Town Plan 2019 to 2036 runs until Sunday 18 March.
Using the strap-line, “Newbury – the Crossroads of Southern England”, it highlights Newbury’s role as a town at the centre of innovation and creativity, open to outside influences, while retaining its strengths and character.
The Plan focusses on how the town should respond positively and constructively to the expected challenges over the next 20 years, and aims to inform and influence the West Berkshire Council Local Area Plan 2019-2036.
It covers the settlement area of Newbury, which includes the urban parts of Speen, Shaw-cum-Donnington and Greenham and responses can be made online or by post. Councillor Adrian Edwards, Leader of the Council, hopes the public will take the time to read the Plan and make their views known, saying, “This is a great opportunity to shape the future of Newbury and I would urge anybody with an interest in the Town to share their views and ideas with us. It could be some time before we have this opportunity again.”
