After an absence of 15 years, Art on the Park returns to Victoria Park this August Bank Holiday.

Around two dozen local artists and craftspeople will be displaying their work on the railings of Victoria Park Nursery and Family Hub and on tables nearby. People will be able to stroll through the exhibition, appreciate the creativity on display and perhaps buy something to take home.

In 2021 a group comprising representatives from Newbury Town Council, Newbury Art Group and Newbury District Arts Association formed to revive this very popular event which had to stop when Parkway was being redeveloped. Chair of the group, Councillor Sue Farrant, said, “We are very grateful to Ms Maria Morgan, Headteacher, who has enabled the return of Art on the Park by allowing us to use the railings outside the Nursery and Family Hub. Victoria Park is a lovely setting and being inside the Park gives us plenty of space”.

Art on the Park will take place on Sunday 28 August 2022 from 10.00am until 4.00pm (weather permitting) and will be officially opened by the Town Mayor. Victoria Park also offers crazy golf, tennis, skateboarding and a splash park, so there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

Applications for pitches are invited from artists and craftspeople living in West Berkshire but they should hurry because organisers expect demand to be high. For more information or to apply for a pitch, email: artontheparknewbury@gmail.com.
