BODIN GARDENS PLAYGROUND CLOSURE
Newbury Town Council has taken the decision to temporarily close Bodin Gardens Playground following significant vandalism to the safety surfacing and fencing. The damage has made the playground unsafe for users and, as a result, the site will remain closed while the necessary arrangements are made.
The Council appreciates that this will be disappointing for local families, particularly given the limited play provision currently available in the area. Dickens Walk Playground is currently undergoing refurbishment works, which are expected to continue through to October, including improvements to the walls, surfacing and play equipment. Hamilton Court Playground remains open.
The Council is progressing its planned refurbishment of Bodin Gardens Playground, with works currently anticipated for spring 2027, subject to the necessary procurement process and budget availability. The planned improvements include new safety surfacing and fencing, with consideration being given to additional play equipment.
A report has been made to the police regarding the vandalism.
We understand the importance of local play facilities and appreciate residents' patience while these works are progressed. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
