JOIN NEWBURY IN BLOOM FOR A COMMUNITY BULB PLANTING DAY AT HUTTON CLOSE

Newbury in Bloom is inviting local residents to roll up their sleeves and help brighten Hutton Close Recreation Ground this autumn! Join us on Saturday, 29th November at 10am for a fun and friendly community bulb planting event.

Our volunteers will be planting 1,000 spring bulbs—including daffodils, tulips, and crocuses—to create a colourful display for everyone to enjoy next spring. This initiative not only brings beauty to our local green spaces but also supports wildlife, providing food sources for pollinators and boosting biodiversity.

Everyone is welcome to take part! If you can, please bring a trowel and gloves—but don’t worry if you don’t have your own; tools will be available to borrow on the day.

“This is a fantastic chance for the community to come together, have some fun, and make Hutton Close a brighter, greener place,” said Cllr Ian Jee, Chair of the Town Council’s Green Spaces Working Group.

Newbury Town Council is supporting the event, and residents at Hutton Close are also encouraged to keep an eye out for consultation documents arriving in the new year, giving everyone a chance to share their ideas for future improvements at the Recreation Ground.

Come along, get your hands a little muddy, and help make Newbury bloom!
