HELP MAKE VICTORIA PARK BLOOM NEXT SPRING!

Newbury in Bloom, in partnership with Newbury Town Council, is inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and help plant 1,000 spring bulbs at a special community bulb planting event in Victoria Park on Sunday 11 October from 10am.

From daffodils and tulips to colourful crocuses, the bulbs will be planted by volunteers across the park, creating a bright and colourful display for the community to enjoy when spring arrives.

The event is a great opportunity to get outdoors, meet others and play a part in making one of Newbury’s much-loved green spaces even more beautiful. The bulbs will also provide an important source of food for pollinators emerging in spring, helping to support local wildlife and biodiversity.

Everyone is welcome to join in, whether you’re an experienced gardener or simply fancy spending a morning outdoors and getting your hands a little muddy! Children and families are welcome too. If you have one, please bring a trowel and a pair of gardening gloves. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own equipment, as a supply of tools will be available to borrow on the day.

Cllr Ian Jee, Chair of Newbury Town Council’s Green Spaces Working Group, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, get outdoors and make a real difference to Victoria Park.

Planting 1,000 bulbs now means we’ll have something wonderful to look forward to when spring arrives, while also creating valuable food sources for pollinators.”

So, grab your gloves, bring your trowel and help us plant the promise of spring!
