NEWBURY TOWN COUNCIL IN THE FINALS OF STAR COUNCIL AWARDS 2021
Newbury Town Council has been named a finalist in the National Association of Local Council’s (NALC) Star Council Awards 2021 and we are in the running for the Council of the Year award.
NALC’s Star Council Awards are the only awards in England to recognise and celebrate the contribution local (parish and town) councils make to their communities. The awards are a fantastic opportunity for local councils, councillors, clerks and county associations to showcase how they have made a real difference locally.
The theme of this year’s awards focused on projects that have positively benefitted their communities during the pandemic.. The winners will be announced at an online ceremony in October.
Cllr Martin Colston, Leader of the Council said, “I am delighted that our work on behalf of the community has been recognised at national level. Our success in the awards is due to all the hard work of Team NTC over the past year, and I would like to thank all of our officers, our many volunteers who worked with us and my colleagues, the elected members of the Town Council.”
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Billy Drummond, urges the people of Newbury to vote for their Council before the closing date, on 23 August 2021, saying, “We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful town and this recognition makes me very proud of our Town Council and the work we do for its residents”.
Members of the public have the chance to determine who wins this category by voting on the NALC website: Star Council Awards 2021 (nalc.gov.uk).
Voting will run from 26 July to 23 August 2021.
