The Newbury Town Civic Awards have launched for 2026. The awards celebrate the people who make a real difference in our community. They recognise outstanding achievements and thank the many volunteers whose time, effort and dedication help make Newbury a better place for everyone.
This year, Newbury Town Council will be recognising nominees across five award categories, highlighting the wide range of voluntary work that takes place throughout the town.
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr David Harman, said, “I’m really excited for the upcoming Civic Awards ceremony. It’s a great chance to celebrate and thank our residents for their creativity and kindness. Hearing about the commitment and effort our volunteers put into projects that benefit the town is always inspiring.”
The winners of the 2025 awards were Bob Whiting, Amy Oliver, Fair Close Centre Meals on Wheels Volunteers, Apple Print & Creative Ltd and The Community Furniture Project. Bob Whiting received the Newbury Town Civic Award for over 40 years’ service to the local community and for supporting various local charities.
Amy Oliver was the winner of the Young Person’s Civic Award for her weekly volunteer work at Swings and Smiles. The Newbury Town Local Community Group Civic Award went to Fair Close Centre Meals on Wheels Volunteers for their dedicated work delivering meals and supporting older people in the community.
The winner of the Business Civic Award was Apple Print & Creative Ltd, for using their skills to help local charities reach more young people. Finally, The Community Furniture Project was the winner of the Environmental Contribution Award, for their volunteers’ work recycling items and supporting the community sustainably.
